The high point of the visit of the Nigerian President H.E. Muhammadu BUHARI consisted of discussions with his Cameroonian counterpart His Excellency Paul BIYA at Unity Palace. The two leaders met for nearly two hours, during which they made an overview of the close cooperation ties that link Cameroon and Nigeria.
Following his arrival in Yaounde this morning, President BUHARI, after a brief stop to rest at the Yaounde Hilton Hotel, came to Unity Palace at 2 pm and was greeted on arrival by President Paul BIYA.
The two leaders then proceeded to the office of the Cameroonian Head of State where they spent time in tête-à-tête discussions that were likely related to the fight against the Boko Haram terrorist group which has been killing scores of civilians in both countries with suicide bombers. The two leaders also exchanged gifts to solidify their friendship.
While the Heads of State were having their discussions, a closed door meeting was held by some members of the delegations of the two countries. It should be noted that President BUHARI was accompanied to Cameroon by a high powered official delegation which included the following personalities:
– Mr. KASHIM SHETTIMA, Governor of Borno state;
