INTIMACY WITH GOD
For the perverse person is an abomination to the Lord,
But His secret counsel is with the upright.
Proverbs 3:32 NKJV
Do we understand the magnitude of this statement: “God wants to have a relationship with you?” For all our thoughts toward God and our understanding of what He has done for us, it’s difficult to grasp why He desires to have an intimate relationship with us.
God created us in His image, meaning that the innate desires of our hearts, to love and to be loved, to be all we are created to be, were placed there by him. In all His splendor and majesty, God also desires our fellowship. He wants intimacy with His creations. He wants to love us, and He wants to be loved by us.
In building intimacy with us, God does four things: He chooses us; He reveals Himself to us through His love; He responds to our invitation for him to come into our hearts; and He reveals Himself to us through experience. Static relationships produce static results. God desires dynamic relationships with us that transform the way we think, act, and live. And it is through intimacy that we learn life-changing principles.
As we seek intimacy with God, we must aim to live a righteous life. And it’s through living a righteous life that we discover intimacy.
Lord, thank You for choosing me and revealing Yourself to me. I
want to remain close to You.
